LOWELL E. MARKHAM Colonie- Lowell E. Markham of Albany passed away peacefully on Monday October 22, 2012 at Albany Medical Center. . Born January 1st 1935 in Albany, Lowell was the son of the late Ralph L. and Florence (Gilkerson) Markham. He had been predeceased by his beloved wife Margaret M. Mazzaferro Markham on April 28th 2006 after forty-five cherished years of marriage. Lowell proudly served in the Air force as a Staff Sergeant during the Korean Conflict. He was a Lieutenant with the Capital Police in Albany for twenty-six years before retiring in 1992. Lowell was also a member of the Colonie Elks and American Legion. He was a communicant of St. Clare's Church in Colonie. Survivors include his loving children Cynthia L. Engelhardt of Slingerlands and Lincoln (Jeanne) Markham of Katy TX., his cherished grandchildren, Taylor and Paige Engelhardt, and Olivia and Aidan Markham, his great-grandson Adrian and his sister in law Rose Markham. He was brother of the late Lynn Markham and Marcia Wilson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday October 27, 2012 at 9:00 a.m. in St. Claire's Church, 1947 Central Avenue, Albany. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Interment will take place next to his wife in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands.
