Obituary of Joyce E. Appel

JOYCE E. APPEL Latham- Joyce E. Appel, 57 of Latham, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 6, 2012 at the Eddy Village Green in Cohoes after battling a long illness. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God and the love and prayers of family and friends & many supported caregivers carried her through 12 years. Born on December 16, 1954 in Albany, she was the daughter of Eloise and the late George Fidell. In 1984 Joyce married the love of her life, Thomas J. Appel. In addition to raising her 2 daughters, she was an active member of the United Church of Cohoes. Known for her compassion and caring spirit throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust & hearts of many who witnessed her constant nurturing love and faith which will never be forgotten. In addition to her beloved husband: Thomas, she is survived by her loving children; Angela Marie and Jessica Ann Appel both of Latham, Kimberly Appel & Michael Appel both of Waterford, Thomas Appel Jr. of Cohoes & James Appel of Oklahoma; 9 cherished grandchildren, 3 adored great grandchildren, her mother Eloise of Martinsville, VA as well as her brother William Fidell of Voorheesville, and sister Judith Allen from Lake Havasu, AZ, whom supported her along with their spouses and 2 nephews and 1 niece. She also leaves behind several loving friends and family. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday October 9, 2012 at 11:00 am at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Rev. Nick Tebordo will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday October 8 from 4-7 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Joyce's memory to the United Church of Cohoes, 123 Mohawk Street, Cohoes, NY 12047 or to the Eddy Village Green House 6, 6 Pasinella Way, Cohoes, NY 12047 Interment will take place in St. Johns Cemetery, Colonie.
