Obituary of Ida Somma

IDA SOMMA Latham- Ida (Edith) Somma, 95 of Latham, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 7, 2012 at Our Lady of Hope Residence in Latham. Born in Bethlehem, PA on August 13, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Olympia (Gargiulo) Somma. Ida resided in Jamaica Queens for 35 years, Staten Island, Whitehall Pa, and eventually settled in Latham in 1989. She was employed as a Clerk for the Citi Bank Corporation in New York City, retiring in 1976 after 25 years of service. Ida was also a member of the "Young at Heart" Club at St. Ambrose Church. Ida is survived by her loving sisters: Nancy Morone and Amelia Calciano both of Latham as well as her 4 cherished nieces, 5 nephews and several great nieces & nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Olympia Griscti and brother Vincent Somma. Memorial services for Ida will be held Thursday September 13, 2012 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Hope Chapel, 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane, Latham In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Our Lady of Hope Residence, 1 Jeanne Jugan Lane, Latham, NY 12110. The family would like to thank the Little Sisters of the Poor and the staff at Our Lady of Hope Residence for the love and care given to Ida during her stay with them.
