Obituary of Robert M. Schimpf

ROBERT M. SCHIMPF Latham- Robert M. Schimpf, 80 of Latham, beloved husband of Kristie A. (Knudsen) Schimpf, died Monday, September 3, 2012 at Albany Medical Center due to complications following heart surgery. Born in Floral Park, NY, on April 22, 1932, he was the son of the late Martin J. and Elizabeth (Heiter) Schimpf. Bob graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School, St. John's University & St. John's Law School. Robert was married to the former Kristie A. Knudsen on October 6, 1967. He proudly served during the Korean War in the US Army. Bob was a Trial Attorney with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in Albany for 28 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the NY Bar Association, Past Grand Knight of Latham K of C, Member of the Friends of Pruyn House & the Historical Society of the Town of Colonie as well as a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Survivors, in addition to his wife include his loving children Jennifer Anne Schimpf of Asbury Park, NJ, Peter Andrew (Cheryl) Schimpf & Stephanie Gail (Stephen Schmid) Schimpf all of Philadelphia as well as his 4 cherished grandchildren: Emily, Sam & Ben Schmid & Madeline Schimpf. The family wishes to thank the staff of the CPS unit at AMC for their care & compassion. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Friday September 7, 2012 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham. Robert's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11:30 a.m. in the church immediately following the visitation.
