Obituary of Mary Matter

MARY MATTER Latham- Mary Matter, 95 of Latham, beloved wife of the late Edward J. Matter Sr., passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at Barnwell Nursing Center in Valatie. Born in Albany on December 8, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Krajah) Belaska. In the 1930's, Mary worked at the Puritan Restaurant in Troy. She also took a part time position at Denby's Dept. Store in Troy. She then tended to her family as a loving and dedicated homemaker. Mary was a member of the Monday Seniors at Latham Bowl as well as the Lost Souls bowling league and a communicant of St. Ambrose Church in Latham. Mary is survived by her loving daughter: Nancy Matter of Albany and her cherished grandchildren: Becky, Beth & Melissa and her daughter in law: Dona Matter. She cherished in her heart the memory of her son: Edward J. Matter Jr. who passed away in 1998. She was the sister of Joseph, John, Henry, Peter & Frank Belaska, Julia Belaska & Rose Springer. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren. Mary's Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday August 29, 2012 at 9:00 am at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday from 5-7 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Westford Fire Dept. PO Box 24, Westford, NY 13488 in memory of Ed Matter Jr. & Mary Matter.
