EDWIN T. SELLS
Loudonville- Edwin Thomas Sells passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012 in the arms of his loving wife of 33 years, Eveline. He was the cherished son of June & Thomas (dec.) Sells.
He graduated from Milne High School in Albany ('58), received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida ('62) and completed his Master of Business Administration from Siena College, Loudonville ('68). After college he joined the Air National Guard at Stratton Air National Guard Base, to proudly serve his country, eventually rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant.
On October 30, 1967, he joined Merrill Lynch in Albany. This October would have marked his 45th anniversary with Merrill Lynch as a Vice President & Financial Advisor. He felt privileged to have worked with such fine co-workers & clients, many of whom became lifelong friends and extended family.
Ed joined Wolferts Roost Country Club in 1962 and became a "life member" this past June. He was an avid golfer. For many years he was part of the "morning brigade", the first team on the course each morning. With compassion & generosity he served on numerous not-for-profit boards including the Red Cross, Siena College Associate Board of Trustees, YMCA and the Saints Alive Athletics Advisory Board. His love and support of the Arts brought him to an ongoing commitment to Proctors Theatre.
Ed and his wife shared a deep concern for the care of rescue animals and worked for their betterment. He greatly enjoyed the company of many of their companion animals. He took great pleasure tending his garden, roses & stargazer lilies. Ed embodied the qualities of loyalty, honesty, integrity and independence. He was a devoted husband, a true professional and a fiercely loyal friend.
Special thanks to his family and friends, his "Merrill family" and his "Wolferts Roost family" for all their caring and support.
Calling hours will be Tuesday July 31, 2012 from 4-6 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. A service to celebrate Ed's life will commence at 6 pm that evening.
Anyone wishing to remember Ed in a special way may contribute to Siena College (Dev. Dept.), 515 Loudon Rd. Loudonville, NY 12211 to institute a scholarship in his honor or to Guilderhaven Animal Rescue, 6655 Route 158, Altamont, NY 12209.
