ROBERT E. TYSON Albany - Robert "Bob" Earl Tyson, 72, of Albany, passed quietly in his sleep on July 23, 2012 at home. Born in Watervliet, New York on October 9, 1939 in Watervliet, Bob was the son of the late Elizabeth B. (Evans) and Benjamin W. Tyson. Bob attended the Latham School, Phillip Livingston Junior High School, and after graduating from Watervliet High School in 1957, joined the United States Postal Service. Bob worked for the Postal Service for 34 years, for many of those years serving as Supervisor - Mails and Delivery, retiring in 1992. In 1960, Bob married Carol Ann Byson of Boght Corners. They resided in Latham until the 1990s. In May 2004, Bob married Carolyn Rose Leombruno of Albany, who was by his side on his final day. For many years, Bob was a regular bowler, softball player and dart player, but his favorite and best sport was golf, golf, golf. He played regularly in Capital Region leagues, and in 1994 became a member of the "Hole In One Club." Bob could often be found at his summer camp on Brant Lake, New York, which was his favorite place to spend time. His family has many fond memories of Bob spending time and playing golf "at the Lake." He played golf often at Green Mansions Golf Club in Chestertown, New York, where he was a member for many years. He passed his affection for the New York Yankees and the New York Giants on to his son and grandson. Bob served in the National Guard from 1963 to 1969, earning honors in marksmanship during his tenure. Bob was a longtime member of the Colonie Elks # 2192, and in recent years, he rarely missed a Friday night dinner with a large group of friends. Bob is survived by his wife, Carolyn Rose Leombruno Tyson of Albany, one son, Robert R. (Angela) Tyson of DeWitt, New York, his loving grandchildren, Annika Claire Tyson and Avery Robbins Tyson, his sister, Janeth E. Tyson of Schenectady, his sisters-in-law Beth and Lucille and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wife, Carol A. Carr of Watervliet. Bob was predeceased by his half-brother William E. Tyson, his sister Joan E. Tyson, and his brother, Richard A. Tyson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X, Crumitie Road, Loudonville. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Loudon Road, Latham, on Friday, July 27 from 4-7 p.m. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont, New York. Donations may be made in Bob's memory to the Albany Dialysis Center, 64 Albany-Shaker Road, Albany, New York 12204 or the Diabetes Association.
