Obituary of Margaret Powers

MARGARET POWERS New Jersey- Margaret "Peg" (Riddell) Powers, after reaching her goal of celebrating her 100th birthday on July 1st with family, she quietly passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Chelsea at Tinton Falls. Born in Barre, Vermont, she had lived in West Long Branch before moving to Tinton Falls several years ago. Margaret had been employed at Diamonds Pharmacy and Sea Bright Pharmacy before retiring. She also was a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, William Powers; her son, William Heggie; her daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Harry Ferguson; a granddaughter, Diane; and her siblings, William, Walter, Thomas, Gordon and Catherine. Surviving are her grandchildren, Kathy Hunt, Gordon Heggie, Steve Ferguson, Terry Brocklebank, Sherry Ainsley, Angela Holder and Pam Heggie; 15 great grandchildren; 15 great great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Heggie and several nieces and nephews. Visitation was previously held in Long Branch, New Jersey. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday July 18, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Evergreen Cemetery, Schenectady. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Grace Healthcare Services, 105 Fieldcrest Ave, Suite 304, Edison, NJ 08837.
