CECIL F. DECKER Latham- Cecil F. Decker, 88 of Latham, beloved husband of Nettie Jean (Dupree) Decker, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side. Born in Albany on July 8, 1923, he was the son of the late Howard C. and Charlotte Ritchie Decker. He was educated in Albany Schools. Cecil was the owner and operator of Latham Movers from 1957-1989 and later was a Transporter for Hertz Rental Car & National Car Rental. Cecil served in the Army Air Corp during World War II and was awarded the Air Medal with clusters, Distinguished Flying Cross with clusters, Asiatic Pacific Victory Medal, America Theater Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal, China War Memorial Medal, and the Chinese Medal of Honor, which is their highest award. He was recalled by the Air Force in 1950 during the Korean War and was discharged in 1952. Cecil was Past Commander of VFW Post #7411, Past Commander and Past State Commander of the China Burma India Veterans, and a member of the American Legion Zaloga Post, as well as a member and also served as an officer in the Colonie Elks #2192, The Latham Masonic Order and formerly a member of the Latham Kiwanis. Cecil is survived by his loving wife: Nettie Jean Dupree Decker; his cherished children: Robert C. (Phyllis) Decker, Deborah C. (James) Graulty and Douglas P. (Sandra) Decker. As well as his adored grandchildren: Craig R. (Chanda) Decker, Catherine J. (Steven) Giamalis, Cynthia J. Decker, Patrick D. Decker, Barbara M. Decker, Sharon D. (John) Pailley and Great grandchildren Sophia and Liam Decker and Shawn Giamalis. He was predeceased by his brothers Charles S. Decker, twin brother Clarence L. Decker, Albert E. Decker and his sister Marie Musgrave. Funeral services will be held Friday June 29, 2012 at 10:00am at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Rev. Richard Lehmann will officiate. Relatives and friends are invited to call Thursday June 28 from 4-7 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
