ETTA M. DEGARMO Boght Corners-Etta Marie (Clancy) DeGarmo slipped away on Friday, 3/30/12, leaving behind her loving husband of 64 years, Arthur C. DeGarmo. Etta was born to Harry and Etta C. Clancy on 2/4/25 in Saratoga Springs. In addition to her husband, she is survived by four daughters; Marguerite (Richard) Massey of Billerica, MA, Shelley (Randy Morehouse) Murphy of So. Glens Falls, Linda (Larry) Blue of Myrtle Beach, SC and Suzanne Sheehan of Cohoes. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; Amanda (Matt) Lee of Burlington, MA, Carolyn Massey of Billerica, MA, Sam Murphy and Loann Lam of Saratoga Springs, Megan Blue and her sweetheart Monroe Johnson, Rachel Blue and her fiance Randall Horne and Hunter Blue, all of Myrtle Beach, SC, Karissa Sheehan and her fiance Matt Clairmont and Devin Sheehan of Cohoes. Etta leaves two great grandchildren, Kendall and Jared Lee of Burlington, MA. She is survived by her sister, Marguerite Clancy of Saratoga Springs, and was predeceased by her brother Robert Clancy of South Hadley, MA. Etta also leaves numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. There was a special place in her heart for Randy Sheehan. She was looking forward with joy to the continued growth of her family through the upcoming marriages of her granddaughters, Rachel and Karissa. As a young woman, Etta Marie worked in the office of the president of Skidmore College and at the Saratoga Springs 4-H Office. It was there that she met her husband, who was inspecting Victory Gardens following the end of World War II. Once she married the love of her life, she devoted herself to her family. She was an amazing seamstress, wonderful cook and a full time wife and mother. Etta was a GOP committee person for the Town of Colonie for several years. She was strong willed, living life on her own terms. After her own children were grown, she provided loving care to Amy, Emily and Jeffrey Emerick. Etta Marie loved books, movies, all performance arts and music. She shared her love of reading with her family and enjoyed attending plays and concerts ranging from classical to Frank Sinatra to Willie Nelson. She also enjoyed travel, particularly to Cape May and Myrtle Beach. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she followed them with pride through baseball, swimming, soccer, hockey, concerts and musicals. Her family will always be grateful for the loving care, humor and compassion from her extended family on the fourth floor of the Eddy Heritage House in Troy. Etta's family will love her and miss her always. They ask that, in lieu of flowers, Etta be remembered with donations to the American Cancer Society The family will receive friends from 11-12 am on Thursday April 5 at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham, with a celebration of Etta's life to follow at 12 noon with Rev. Nick TeBordo officiating. Inurnment will take place in Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.
