SHIRLEY J. HEWITT
Latham- Shirley J. Hewitt, 86 of Latham, died Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Van Rensselaer Manor, in North Greenbush.
Born and educated in Cohoes, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Adelaide (Brouilette) Hewitt.
She was a Rate Clerk, employed by D & H Railroad for over 40 years, until retiring in 1982. Shirley has resided in Latham since 1936 and was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham. She was also a member the Railway Business Women Association and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include her cherished Nieces Suzanne Borst, Jane Meehan, Patricia Rusman, Ann Marie Sheehy, Adelaide Abbott-Youngs, Gail McFetters, Jane Morelli and Mary Collins, her nephews, Peter Van Olinda, James Abbott and John Abbott, her Godchildren, Thomas Reed, Deborah Hanor and Christopher Meehan. She is also survived by several grand nieces, nephews, great grand nieces and nephews and great great grand nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her sisters, Marjorie Marden, Viola Van Olinda, Beatrice Sheehy and Adeline Abbott, her nephew, John A. Sheehy and niece, Caroline Ras,
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Rd, Latham on Monday January 12, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Geoffrey Burke officiating.
Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery in Menands.
