JOHN E. "Jake" HALLORAN
Cohoes- John E. "Jake" Halloran, 86 of Cohoes, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at St. Peter's Hospital, in Albany.
Born in Troy on July 30, 1922, he was the son of the late John J. and Helen (Whalen) Halloran. John married the former Doris M. Fontaine on July 30, 1944 and the two shared a blessed union of over 64 years. He also proudly served in the Coast Guard 1942 to 1945. John was a Life member of the Boght Fire Company, joining in 1956. He was a Past Chief and Past Commissioner of the department. John was also a member of the Young at Heart at St. Ambrose Church in Latham.
He worked in the Maintenance Department for the North Colonie Central School District, a position he retired from in 1987 after many years of service.
Survivors in addition to his beloved wife include his children; John E. (Darline) E. Halloran Jr. and Thomas (Judy) J. Halloran all of Clifton Park. He cherished in his heart the memory of his son William R. Halloran who passed away in 2001. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren; Jack, Jeff, Kim, Jasmine, Tom & Bill and his great grandchildren; Jake, Davis, Kayleigh, Scott, Heather, Derek & Abby and his brother; William J. Halloran of Wilton.
John is predeceased by his sister Mary Fahey and daughter in law Bernice Halloran.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday January 7 at 9:00 am at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Rev Francis DuBois will officiate.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Tuesday from 4-7 P.M. at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd., 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY.
In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in Jake's memory to the Boght Fire Company.
Interment will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery Of Cohoes, Waterford.
