ELIZABETH M. DRYDEN Latham- Elizabeth M. Dryden, 91 of Latham, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 3, 2009 in the comfort of her home with her loving family by her side. Born in Troy on September 26, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Francis and Emma (Heller) Matthews. She was married to Lester S. Dryden and shared a union of 55 years prior to his passing in 1997. She was a caring Homemaker, a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and caregiver to her children as well as generations of neighborhood children whom she became a second mother to. She was also a loving friend to her neighbors for more than 50 years. Elizabeth was also a member of the Niskayuna Reformed Church Survivors include her loving children; Michael (Phylis) M. Dryden of Lebanon, PA, Lee (Peggy) S. Dryden of Williamsville, NY and Suzanne E. Kelly of East Nassau, NY as well as her cherished grandchildren; Emily, Katharine and James Dryden; Kristine, Geoffrey, Jason and Valerie Kelly; Kirk and Craig Campbell and her great grandchildren; Steven, Maurice, Micah and Isabella Campbell. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Naomi Dryden of Phoenix, NY and numerous loving nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her beloved son-in-law Monty Kelly, her sisters; Mildred Younghans and Olive Matthews and her brother Francis Matthews. A celebration of Elizabeth's Life will be held Tuesday January 6 at 3:00 pm at Niskayuna Reformed Church, Troy-Schenectady Road, Niskayuna, Pastor Scott DeBlock will officiate and the family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the services In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Verdoy Fire Department.
