Obituary of Dr. Antonio Ira Farol

DR. ANTONIO IRA FAROL Latham- Dr. Antonio Ira Farol, 77 of Latham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Atria Crossgate, in Albany. Born on April 13, 1934 in Manila, Philippines, he was the son of the late Pablo and Juliana (Ira) Farol. Antonio was married to the former Carmen H. Piris on January 2, 1965 and the two shared a blessed union of 46 years together. Dr. Farol was a graduate of Far Eastern University in the Philippines, and was a member of the American Medical Society. He was also a Founding Member & the 1st President of the Bayanihan Association-Albany Chapter. As a doctor of Internal Medicine, he was in a successful private practice on Delaware Avenue in Albany for over 30 years with his cousin Felix Ira MD. He also served as an Emergency Room physician for Memorial & St. Peter's Hospitals, and provided medical service to local law enforcement agencies, Albany City School District and Central Nursing. At one time Dr. Farol was also the Medical Director for Resurrection Nursing Home & Rosewood Gardens. In addition to his beloved wife Carmen, he is survived by his loving children; Meg (Marc) Pasternak of New Jersey and Dr. Peter Farol & Julie Farol both of Manhattan as well as his cherished grandson Toby Pasternak. He is also survived by his sister: Adelia Carmelo of the Philippines and several nieces, nephews & cousins. He is predeceased by his 3 brothers: Paterno, Vicente & Rodolfo. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday November 18, 2011 from 4-7 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday November 19 at 11:00 am at St. Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Fr. Francis DuBois will officiate.
