Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Dent

MARY ELIZABETH DENT Cohoes- Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Dent, 70 of Cohoes, beloved wife of the late Norman C. Dent, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at Albany Medical Center in Albany. Born in Troy on December 24, 1940, she was the daughter of the late William and Cecile (Martel) Cunningham. Betty was educated at St. Marie's in Cohoes, V.I. in Albany and also went to Russell Sage College for 3 years. She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church in Latham and a former member of their women's group. She also enjoyed reading. She was a Regional Director of Field Office and Vehicle Safety Services for the N.Y.S. Dept of Motor Vehicles, retiring in 1994 after 35 years of service. Betty is survived by her loving daughters: Laura Ellen Dent of Stratford, Ontario, Canada, Michelle Lee Hirsch of Cohoes, her Sons in Law, John S. Zelek & Brian M. Hirsch; cherished grandson, Joshua Dent Zelek, her sister-in-law Linda Cunningham of Arizona. She was predeceased by her brother William Cunningham. Funeral services will be held Saturday September 17, 2011 at 11:00 am at Calvary United Methodist Church, 15 Ridge Place at Belle Avenue, Latham. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday September 16 from 4-7 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd., 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY.
