DAVID K. SUTTER Colonie- David K. Sutter, 61 of Colonie, completed his journey in this life and began the next journey when he passed away Wednesday night, September 7, 2011 at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness. His loving wife Doreen and daughter Jessie were at his side. He was born on June 28, 1950 in Neenah, WI, the son of the Walter and Susan Sutter. He is survived by is wife Doreen, daughter Jessie, 2 grandchildren Xavier & Rose, his mother Susan, 1 brother, 5 sisters and numerous nieces & nephews. David is predeceased by his father, 1 brother as well as his son Jeremy and daughter Catherine. When he was 3, his family moved to Southern California where he spent his childhood years. In 1964, they moved back to Neenah. He graduated from Neenah HS. In 1972, he married Doreen Aguayo. He attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he received a BA degree in Accounting from the School of Business, graduating on the Dean's list. After graduation in December 1978, he joined Nekoosa Papers in Port Edwards, WI where he began his 33 year career in the paper industry. In 1994 he moved to New York and joined Mohawk Paper Mills in Cohoes. He loved all kinds of music and played several instruments including fiddle, banjo, electric & acoustic guitar, drums and was also learning to play the bagpipes. He also enjoyed singing and inherited a love of travel from his father and visited all 50 states and 3 of the 7 continents with Doreen. His favorite destinations were the US National parks. His enjoyment of photography fit well with his travels. He was also a former licensed private pilot and in his spare time would read just about any book he could find and had several in progress. David was an accomplished amateur artist and author as well, with a published book which he wrote and illustrated himself with drawings and photographs. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday September 11 from 1-3 pm at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Services will be held in Neenah, WI. at a later date.
