Obituary of Donald Reed Gerfin Jr.

DONALD REED GERFIN JR. Latham- Donald Reed Gerfin Jr., 57 of Latham, beloved husband of Pamela (MacDonald) Gerfin, passed away suddenly on Sunday, August 28, 2011. Born in Schenectady on November 18, 1953, he was the son of Donald Reed Gerfin Sr. and the late Patricia (White) Gerfin. He graduated from Linton High School & Siena College. Don married the former Pamela MacDonald on April 5, 1980 and the two shared a blessed union of 31 years. He was employed with Federal Express in Menands for over 32 years. Don was a longtime member of the Board of Directors of Shaker Rowing Assoc. He was a former EMT for North Colonie Ambulance and Western Turnpike Rescue Squad. Don had a passion for and was excellent at restoring cars and was a trained and active weather spotter for the National Weather Service. In addition to his beloved wife, he was the adored & devoted father of Lisbeth (Scott) Gerfin Mitchell of Mechanicville and Geoffrey Andrew Gerfin of Latham, the son of Donald Gerfin Sr. of Schenectady, brother of Kurt (Teri Lupi) Gerfin of Rotterdam and Kate (Steve) Kvaternik of Virginia. He is also survived by 4 sisters in law and a brother in law and numerous nieces & nephews. Memorial services will be held Saturday September 3 at 11:00 am at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 107 State Street, Albany with burial in the church columbarium. Rev Paul Hartt will officiate.
