FRANCIS J. O'SHAUGHNESSY
Francis (Frank) J. O'Shaughnessy, 92, of Fiddlers Lane, Latham passed away at home on his front porch peacefully in the early morning hours of May 4, 2011 while a gentle rain fell. Frank, a mensa, was born in Albany and graduated from Albany High School, Class of 1936.
He served 4 years in the military during World War II as an Officer in the Field Artillery, Tank Destroyers and Air Force. In the Air Force, he was a test pilot and instructor pilot on the B-17, B-24, B-29 and B-32. He was employed by the N.Y. Telephone Company and retired after 44 years of service. He was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham and St. Philips Church in Willsboro, N.Y. For the past 55 years he spent weekends, vacations and retirement at his summer home in Willsboro, N.Y. on Lake Champlain.
He is survivied by his beloved wife Jane, with whom he recently celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary. Also survived by his 4 children, Kathleen of Latham, N.Y., Dennis and his wife Donna of Glenmont, N.Y., Susan and her husband Daniel Walsh of Agawam, MA, and Brigit and her husband, Dr. Lawrence Robinson of Slingerlands, N.Y. He is also survived by his 4 grandchildren, Dennis O'Shaughnessy, Jr. and his wife Nicole of Delmar, N.Y. and Kelly Favorite and her husband Nicholas of NC, Frances Walsh and Bridget Walsh of Agawam, MA.
Also survived by 2 great grandchildren, Michael O'Shaughnessy and Joseph O'Shaughnessy of Delmar, N.Y. He was predeceased by his son Michael and his brother Bernard T. O'Shaughnessy and his wife Vera. He was the dear friend of Gail O'Shaughnessy and was the uncle to several nieces and nephews of the King family from Ravena, N.Y.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Sunday May 8 from 1-4 PM at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd., 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday May 9 at 9:30am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham.
Funeral Services will then take place on Tuesday May 10 at 12:00 noon at St. Philip of Christ Church, 3746 Main St., Willsboro, NY with interment in Calvary Cemetery in Willsboro.
