Obituary of Lorraine P. Estes

LORRAINE P. ESTES Newtonville-Lorraine P. Estes, 82 of Latham, beloved wife of the late Robert J. Estes, entered into eternal life on Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany. Born and educated in Syracuse, she was the daughter of the late Adolph and late Theresa (Till) Puhala. She graduated from North High in Syracuse. Lorraine resided in DeWitt, NY until moving to Newtonville with her family in 1968. She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Latham. She was a Secretary for many years employed by Kaman Bearing in Latham. A member of the Colonie Elks Lodge # 2192 Ladies Auxiliary and the Colonie Senior Citizens Club where she participated in the companion services. She also knitted bonnets for the premature babies born at Albany Medical Center. Survivors include he loving daughters, Barb Garr of Liverpool, NY, Pam Giuliano of Fall River, MA and Sharon (John) DeMars of Schaghticoke. She was predeceased by her son Michael J. Estes. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren Zach Giuliano, Justin Estes, Jeremiah Giuliano, Joshua Garr, Lindsay Garr, T.J. Ryan and Rachelle DeMars, her great grandchildren Vincent, Juliana and Eden Grace. She was the sister of Karen Grabowski of Florida and the late Chuck Puhala. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass Saturday May 28, 2011 at 9:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham with Rev. Geoffrey Burke officiating. There will be no calling hours. Memorial Contributions can be made in Lorraine's memory to Community Hospice of Albany County, 445 New Karner Rd., Albany NY 12205 or to the American Lung Association, 155 Washington Ave., Albany NY 12210 The family would like to thank the staff of the Community Hospice of Albany County especially Terry Clarke for the care and compassion shown to Lorraine during her illness.
