Mr. Sheridan was my freshman English teacher at Seton Hall, 1966-67. He managed to keep us all in line (sometimes by pinging a piece of chalk off someone's head- what aim!) while introducing us to Shakespeare and Dickens. His influence on my life was enormous: his encouragement, patience and great good humor made literature fun, and his high standards for his students' writing has served me well in all these long years since I was one of Big John Sheridan's "chiquitas" in 5th Period English. This was pre-feminism, mind you, though we were all so madly in love with him it would not have mattered! I have thought of him often over the years with great fondness. He will be missed.

My sincere condolences to the entire Sheridan family. Coach you may have been hard but you were fair. You drove me to be the best that I could and drove me beyond my expectations. You helped me become the player that you knew I was able to be and credit you with helping our undefeated football season in 1970 at Seton Hall H S. Thank you coach for all that you've done for all your players.

"May the road rise up to meet you,
may the wind be always at your back,
may the sun shine warm upon your face,
the rains fall soft upon your fields,
and until we meet again
may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
God Bless you John, rest in peace.
