Kara was a student of mine (two semesters) at Hudson Valley Community College. One of her classmates saw me today- April 28- and told me that Kara passed away...I am extremely saddened and I am so sorry for your loss. I enjoyed my talks with Kara before and after our class time- many times concerning the newest hair color!! To her amazement she scored the highest grade on one of the exams. We "laughed" about it and she felt a bit honored and bewildered at the same time. I tried to push her to stretch her potential albeit in Criminal Law or as a world famous hair stylist!!!One day she introduced me to her sister. You could see the bond between them. My deepest sympathy to the rest of the family. I miss seeing her around the campus.

You are the most absolutely amazing women I could have ever met. I am so happy we became such good friends and stayed in touch. Remember Senior prom?!? What a night to remember. The Girl with the Endless Smile
Why do beautiful rainbows vanish in a moment?
Why are joyful songs of youth sometimes silenced before voices reach the chorus?
Why do lights that burn so brightly with hope and promise
flicker and blow out in the March breeze?
Why does the gentle light of spring fade so quickly to twilight?
Why must carefree laughter suddenly turn to burning tears?
Why must the pages of a new book just opened
slam closed before the story can be told?
Why do treasures go undiscovered?
Why do calls and messages go un-returned?
Why must many winding paths go un-traveled
by feet still so eager to explore the world?
Why would the curtain close after only Act I is staged?
Why would the dance of life be suddenly stopped mid-step?
Why would heaven call so soon to one who brought joy to so many and who still had so much to give to life?
Why must so many friends’ hearts be broken?
Why must a sister mourn the loss of sibling secrets yet unshared?
Why does a little girl with an endless smile grow up too quickly and leave her mother’s arms empty and aching too far too soon, just wanting to hold her baby again?
Sometimes “why” is never answered.
Sometimes clocks just stop and doors slam closed with no reason.
Sometimes we feel emptiness where a moment ago there was love.
But always in our hearts her song will sing and her light shine its brilliant light
And we know that we were blessed to have our lives touched if only for a brief moment in time
by the girl with the endless smile….
