Obituary of Samuel J. Searles

SAMUEL J. SEARLES NORTH CHARLESTON SC - Samuel Joseph Searles, 68, of North Charleston, died Thursday, February 24, 2011 in a Charleston hospital. Mr. Searles was born January 2, 1943, in Middle Falls, NY, to the late Ivan James Searles and Shirley Searles. Sam was a United States Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War, and was a retired missile mechanic for Lockheed Martin. Surviving are a daughter, Christine (Jon) Fitzsimmons of Raleigh, NC; sons, Scott (April) McKeighan of Salem, and Sean Britton of Utah; his sisters, Cynthia Jones of Albany, Susan (Jerry) Seaman of Ballston Spa, brothers, Ivan (Donna) Searles, Jr. of Ballston Spa, Dennis (Debbie) Searles of Cambridge, Arnold (Chanceamone) Searles of Peninsula, VA, and Michael (Mary) Riccio of Argyle, NY as well as 3 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Avinger Funeral Home Chapel, Holly Hill, SC. Burial with full military honors will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville, New York.
