LANE B. FARRELL Lane Boardman Farrell, 80 of Latham, peacefully passed away at his home on Sunday, February 20, 2011. Lane was born in Gardinier, Maine on June 26, 1930 and has lived in the Albany area since he was seven. Lane was the son of the late Marian and Frederick Farrell and graduated from Albany High School in 1949. Lane served in the Korean War as a combat medic in 1951-52 and is a member of the American Legion #1019 Scully Post and VFW, Latham Post #7411. After the service, Lane earned his bookkeeping certificate from Albany Business School and worked as a bookkeeper for Bryant Lumber for 26 years. He continued doing this work for other industries and then retired with Albany Citizens Council on Alcoholism in 1998. Lane was a devout follower of the New York Yankees. He had a talent for the theater and performed in a number of local plays as a young adult. He also had enjoyment for music, especially Jazz. Most of all, Lane had a great love for helping people. To see a life transformed was his great joy. Lane is survived by his "adopted" daughter and son, Christy and Ward Kinne and grandsons Patrick David, Samuel Ward, and Jonathan Lane from Overland Park, KS. Lane is also survived by his dearly loved friends of Bill W. God bless you all. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday evening February 22 from 5-7 at Dufresne and Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. A service to celebrate his life will take place on Wednesday at the United Church of Cohoes, 123 Mohawk St. Cohoes at 10 am. Rev. Nick TeBordo will officiate. A burial and memorial service will take place in June around Lane's birthday. Details will be announced at that time.
