JOHN J. KARDAS
Latham-John J. Kardas, 92 of Latham, beloved husband of Marion Danby Kardas for 58 years, died suddenly Sunday, December 12, 2010 at Albany Medical Center.
Born and educated in Valley Falls, he was the son of the late William and Mary (Wlosiak) Kardas. He married his beloved Marion Danby in 1952 and the two have shared a blessed union. He was a corporal with the 873rd Engineer Aviation Battalion in the Army-Air Force during World War II serving from 1942 until 1945 stationed overseas for 2 years and the recipient of 3 battle stars. John was the former co-owner of Kardas Brothers Dairy Farm in Valley Falls. He was a Group Leader with General Electric in Schenectady for over 39 years retiring in 1981. A Latham resident for the last 58 years he was a long time communicant of St. Ambrose Church in Latham. He was a member of the Young at Heart at St. Ambrose. He was a member of the V.F.W. Posts in Watervliet and in Valley Falls, the Century Club at G.E. and a former member of the Catholic War Veterans St. Ambrose Post 1770.
Survivors in addition to his wife are his loving children Mark Frederick Kardas of Latham, Barbara Ann Kardas of New York City and Elaine (David) Beauchamp of Latham, his cherished grandson Shane Beauchamp, brothers Joseph Kardas of Valley Falls and Frank Kardas of Stillwater, his in-laws Florence Bradley, Eva and Erwin Andrews and Lorraine Kardas, as well as many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his infant daughter Lynn Marie Kardas, his sister Sylvia Novotny and brothers Albert, Edward and Walter Kardas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday December 15, 2010 at 9:00 am in St. Ambrose Church 347 Old Loudon Rd. Latham, with Rev. Francis DuBois officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday from 4-7 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd., 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Interment will be in Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
