JOSEPH A. STAPLETON
Loudonville-Joseph A. Stapleton, 85 of Loudonville, beloved husband of Marcia A. Tibbitts Stapleton, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, November 10, 2010 at the home he built in Loudonville with his loving family at his side.
Born and educated in Albany, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mildred (Lowndes) Stapleton. Joe was a graduate of The Cathedral Academy Class of 1944. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corps where he completed pilot training. He married his beloved Marcia A. Tibbitts on May 1, 1948 at St. Margaret Mary's Church in Albany and the two have shared a blessed union of 62 years. Joe was employed as a Switchman for over 36 years with AT&T in Albany. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was longtime communicant of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church in Loudonville. He was an avid golfer and loved taking care of his garden.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his loving children Linda (Donald) Meagher of Bedford, NH, Joseph R. (Nancy) Stapleton of Latham, Christine (Jeffrey) DeLaMater of Peru, NY, his cherished grandchildren Kelly (Michael) Bender, Donald F. Meagher, Sean Meagher, Amy Stapleton, Kerry Stapleton, Andrew Stapleton, Jeffrey T. DeLaMater, Katie DeLaMater, Erin DeLaMater, Gregory DeLaMater, Megan DeLaMater and his adored GreatGrandchildren, Michaela, Joseph, Natalie, Rachel, Adam, David and Ryan Bender. Joe was predeceased by his brother, Robert Stapleton
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday November 13, 2010 at 10:00 am in St. Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Road in Loudonville with Rev. Michael Farano officiating.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday from 4-7 pm at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
