Obituary of Nelda L. Margason

NELDA L. MARGASON Latham-Nelda Lou Margason (81) of Latham, beloved mother of Kent Margason, Mark (Cheryl), Margason Scott (Alma) Margason and Melodie (Rich) Paulsen passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, October 14, 2010. Mrs. Margason died of natural causes. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Danford of Phoenix, AZ, her four children and nine grand children: Natalie, Alyssa, Sarah, Ryan, Haley, Matthew, Andrew, Elizabeth and Julia. Nelda was born in Lorraine, Kansas, to the late Walter Christopher. and Frances Amanda (Splitter) Wesseler. She attended Sterling College and graduated from Ottawa University. Nelda met her husband Charles when she was 20 years old at college. They were introduced to one another by friends. They fell in love almost instantly and were married on August 22, 1952. They enjoyed 32 years together. After her youngest daughter started school, she and Charles started a preschool in Colorado Springs, CO. The preschool was a huge success and Nelda expanded to four schools with 35 staff serving 450 preschoolers a year. As a second career, Nelda worked for the United States Olympic Committee helping athletes at the training centers in Colorado Springs, CO and in Lake Placid, NY. In her retirement, she volunteered at Loudonville Christian School and Loudonville Community Church. Nelda loved to watch her grandsons play baseball and was an avid New York Yankees fan. She was loved dearly by her children and her grandchildren and will be missed greatly. However, "To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord". Nelda's highest priority was her personal walk with the Lord, and we know that she is rejoicing in Heaven with HIM. Relatives and friends are invited and may call from 4:30-7:00 pm this Monday October 18th at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh at 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY 12110. The celebration service will be Tuesday October 19, 2010 2pm, at Nelda's home church - Loudonville Community Church 374 Loudon Road Loudonville with Pastor Stan Key officiating.
