JOSEPH J. PEPE
Loudonville- Joseph J Pepe, 69, of Loudonville passed away on Wednesday, August 4th, 2010.
Born in New Haven, Conn on Oct 7th, 1940, he was the son of the late Margaret and John Pepe. He graduated from Watervliet High School and then went on to receive a PhD, in Metallurgy, from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1966. He worked at US Steel in Pittsburgh, PA and at the Watervliet Arsenal before establishing a noteworthy career at General Electric. A dedicated professional and consummate pioneer he developed numerous patents, introduced GE to computer technology long before others realized its significance, and traveled the world. He married Carole A Kirk on August 7th 1965.
He is survived by his devoted wife Carole of Loudonville, NY , son Shawn Pepe (Alicia) of Watervliet, two daughters Katherine Kaczorowski (Kevin) of Manlius NY and Christine Pepe (Jim Yienger) of Watervliet, NY and seven grandchildren, Erin, Nicholas, William, Ryan, Hannah, Parker, and Indigo. The oldest of four brothers (a.k.a, the "Four Aces"), he is also survived by brothers John, Robert, Mario, and a sister Marie. An engineer by training and farmer at heart, his friends and family fondly remember Joe on his farm tending his cows and working on his tractors. He was affectionately referred to as "Joe, the gentleman farmer".
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Sunday from 3-6 at the Dufresne and Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham.
A celebration of Joe's life will be held at the St Pius X Church, 23 Crumitie Rd. in Loudonville on Monday at 10:00 am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Teresian House in Albany.
Interment will take place in Albany Rural Cemetery, Menands.
