Obituary of David E. Lewis
DAVID E. LEWIS
GALWAY - David Evan Lewis, age 69, passed away on January 14th, 2025 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady. He was the beloved husband of Cynthia L. (Goodman) Walion-Lewis.
Born in Niagara Falls on April 3rd, 1955, he was the son of the late Walter and Jean (Moran) Lewis.
Dave attended Kenmore High School in Buffalo. He enlisted in the US Army and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division. During his eight years of service, he received multiple awards and commendations to include: Certificate of Achievement in 1976 while serving as Assistant Platoon Sergeant and Repair Team Chief with the 1st Infantry Division at Fort Riley, Kansas, Scroll of Appreciation in 1979 while assigned to the Southern European Task Force, Vicenza Italy, Consolidated Maintenance Shop for superb duty performance as Section Chief of the shop supply section, and Army Commendation Metal in 1980 for outstanding performance of duties as Repair Parts Supervisor of the United States Army Military Community.
Upon his honorable discharge as Sergeant in 1980, Dave returned home and began work in the security field. He attended Erie Community College earning a degree in Data Processing. He then went on to work as an IT Program Manager for several different businesses and banks.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his children Amanda (Jimmy) Sheflin, Travis Walion, and Caitlin (Michael) Dorgan. Also survived by his three grandchildren Callie Virginia Dorgan, Lacey Shea Dorgan, and Kenna Paige Dorgan. David is also survived by his sister April (David) Zaidel, Spring (Sanford) Lee, and Holly (James) Murray, along with his brother Mark (Penny) Lewis.
David was a wonderful, loving, and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He will be deeply missed yet forever cherished by those who loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend services on Tuesday, January 21st, 2025 at The Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:30 pm. A prayer service will take place at 6:30 pm with the Reverend Elaine Woroby officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to either Disabled American Veterans at www.dav.org or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
