Obituary of Arthur Rothaupt

NISKAYUNA – Arthur Rothaupt, 86 of Niskayuna, beloved husband of Patricia (Arpin), passed away Thursday, December 26, 2024 at Teresian House, in Albany.

Born in Albany, NY, he was the son of the late John and Rose (Gold) Rothaupt. Art graduated Schuyler High School, Class of 1956. He and Patricia were married August 26, 1961 in Cohoes, NY.

Art began his career as a pressman employed by Williams Press in Albany. He then went on to work as a regional sales manager for several dairy distribution companies including Normanskill Dairy, Washburn Dairy, and Pride of Utica. Art was a communicant of St. Pius X Church in Loudonville. He was an avid bowler and outdoorsman. He especially enjoyed camping and fishing. For many years Art and his children spent summers at Brant Lake enjoying their summer residence. Art loved cruising the lake in his 250 HP Crestliner and enjoyed taking his children water skiing. He and Pat also found joy in cruising; over the years they had the pleasure of vacationing on over forty cruises. Art and Pat would also often join their daughter Deborah and her family on their vacations. Art was also an avid reader; Since retiring he read 3,755 books. He kept a detailed record of all the books he read by author and by title. When reading each book, he would rate them, circle the misspelled words and write his own thoughts on the ending page. He enjoyed watching and was a follower of the game show Jeopardy, often answering 75% of the questions correctly.

Spending time with family was most important to Art. He leaves his family with so many wonderful memories. He will always be remembered as the epitome of a family man. He was a cherished husband, devoted father, adored Papa to his grandson son Nicholas who he affectionately referred to as "Buddy", as well as a dear brother-in-law and uncle to Pat's siblings and their children. He will be deeply missed yet eternally cherished in the hearts of those he loved.

In addition to his wife, Pat, Art is survived by his two children Mark Rothaupt and Deborah (late Ronald) Albert, his grandson and the apple of his eye, Nicholas Albert, his brother-in-law Alan Arpin, sister-in-law Darlene Kurzynski, and several nieces and nephews.
