Obituary of Shelly Szeto
SHELLY SZETO
LATHAM - Shelly Szeto passed away peacefully at the age of 75 on November 21, 2024 after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease. Born in China, the daughter of the late Kim Liu Hor and Chin Big Yuen Hor, she grew up in Boston, Massachusetts before marrying and settling in Latham, NY to raise her two children.
Shelly enjoyed working in retail, especially cosmetics, clothing, and jewelry. She eventually worked for the state and retired early to help care for her young granddaughters.
She was our brave, elegant, loving, incredibly generous wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend for whom family was everything. Her greatest joys were her children, being close to her granddaughters, and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and warm heart.
She is survived by her husband Man; daughter Manora (Jonathan), granddaughters Joia and Kimi; son Benman (Corey), grandchildren Alexis and Michael, great-grandchildren Gracelynn and Stefon; sisters Lillian (Rick), Valerie (Mark), Shelland (Arthur), Elizabeth (Edward), and brother Barry (Kathy); and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank everyone who helped care for Shelly with love, tenderness, compassion, and dignity.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Shelly's memory may contribute to Eddy Alzheimer's Services at 421 Columbia St., Cohoes, NY 12047 or Community Hospice at 445 New Karner Rd., Albany, NY 12205 (communityhospice.org)
In accordance with her wishes, a private family remembrance is being planned.
