I am deeply heartbroken to hear of Steve’s passing, and my heartfelt condolences go out to his family. Steve and I both attended SAHS, though we never crossed paths there since he was older. In 2002, while attending PLDC at Fort Campbell, I met a Korean guy who worked in Finance. As we talked, we discovered we had both gone to SAHS and knew many of the same people. From that moment, we clicked.
When I was selected for promotion to Sergeant, my unit was at JRTC, but Steve went out of his way to get my orders and even coordinated a promotion ceremony at his family’s restaurant. That’s just who Steve was — an incredible friend and leader.
I was fortunate enough to reconnect with him during my second tour in Korea, but sadly, we lost touch after that. Learning of his passing fills me with sorrow. Steve, you were one of a kind. God bless you, my friend.
