For three years I served with Jim at HQMC. A terrific Marine whom I often attempted to emulate and whose spirit, integrity and personableness were inspiring.

Jim is a gentleman, so funny and had a wonderful comedic sense of timing! Loved to make fun of himself. I loved to "work" with him as a musician, because he had so much heart and feeling. When he played you knew he was playing out his heart...His smile was contagious and he was a great friend. Singing without his trombone playing will not be the same anymore.
I will miss Jim!
Love, Karen

Judge King was so kind, gracious and helpful to me when I was a student at Albany Law (Class of '96)that words cannot express my graditude to him. He was such a Christian gentlemen; he proved a Great Man can also be a good man. The world is a lesser place in his absence.

The Coombe family visited "Uncle" Jim while we toured Washington, DC on a few occastions as children. I also remember having a great time visiting in Conn with the King Family. I proudly display my signed picture of Gen. King while working for the U.S. Army in the JAG office at Fort Monmouth, NJ and currently in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security office in Dover, DE.

Jim was a great guy. His contributions to the legal profession were numerable. I knew Jim as a superb trombonist and enjoyed his musical talent (and his sense of humor). Jim was a special person and made an indelible mark in my life. He will always be remembered with joy.
My heartfelt sympathy to his wife Anne and his family.

It was my great pleasure to work with Judge King when he served as a Hearing Officer for the NY State Retirement System. I enjoyed our discussions on legal issues and found him to be a kind and thorough judge who always maintained the highest standards of professionalism. Judge King was very supportive of me when I left the agency to start my own practice, and would call and check in with me every so often. He was truly one of the "good guys" and will be missed in the legal community. Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss.

Jim:
Fair winds and following seas in your next life.
The measure of a man is how many souls he touches in the course of his life. I was but one of the hundreds whose sou you touched. I thank you for your mentoring, understanding and good humor.
BZ for a life well lived.

It was my great pleasure and privilege to serve as a member of the Assembly Codes Committee with Jim. Although from opposite sides of the aisle, it immediately became clear to me that this was one of the finest gentlemen I could hope to meet, and we became friends immediately. I was delighted to encounter Jim again in the last two years in the context of his hearing officer work, and myself as Special Counsel to the Comptroller. Like so many, I will miss him greatly. The world was a much richer place for his presence.

I got to know Jim in the last years, as a fellow member of the Lobbying Commission and Public Integrity Commission, but I quickly saw in Jim profound qualities of wisdom, honesty, public spiritedness, and personal warmth. He was someone I admired greatly, and I came to think of him as a real friend. He was entirely serious about our work on the Commission, but that he always took the time to ask about our personal lives and to regale us with wonderful stories of his musical exploits, his "new" bride, and his days up north. The public will miss his wisdom and work ethic, and I will truly miss him as a friend.
best,
Andy Celli

Dear Judge King Family,
I was so impressed with Judge King and his commitment to Siena and the Siena students. During the past year there were many times that he arrived at Siena feeling miserable, yet he still came in because he “didn’t want to let anyone down.”
He always was friendly, gentlemanly and kind. I will truly miss him and the cheerfulness that he brought into our office whenever he visited.
May God especially bless you during this difficult time.
Warm regards,
Donna Tytko
