Obituary of James R. Petrigliano Jr.

JAMES R. PETRIGLIANO JR.

COXSACKIE - James Rocco Petrigliano Jr., of Coxsackie, New York, passed away peacefully on July 21st, 2024. Born in Weehawken, New Jersey, on August 16th, 1943, he was the beloved son of the late James R. Petrigliano Sr. and Minnie (Lombardi) Petrigliano.

Jim spent his early years in West New York, New Jersey. He loved growing up near his large extended family. He built strong bonds with his paternal grandparents, and numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.

In 1956, Jim and his family relocated to Coxsackie. He had mixed emotions about the move, but came to love his new "country" home, and his maternal Lombardi relatives. He also made lifelong friends at this time. His uncle and aunt, Geoge and Virgina Petrigliano and family, moved to Coxsackie a few years later, providing further family support and love.

Known for his kindness and politeness, James was a devoted son, brother, and friend, who always put his family first. His calm, quiet, and friendly demeanor was enjoyed by all who knew him.

He attended Coxsackie-Athens Central School where he excelled on the high school baseball and basketball teams. He graduated in 1962.

James enjoyed a fulfilling career at Sears Automotive in Albany NY, where he thrived as a salesman for over 25 years. Following his retirement from Sears, he dedicated himself to the Rainbow Country Club in Greenville, NY, serving as the course superintendent. There, he made many long-term friends due to his dedication to his duties and caring attitude.

Jim served six years in the Army National Guard and was based out of the armory in Leeds NY.

Jim was the loving stepfather of Candance Barnaba and Kimberly Carter, and the proud step-grandfather of Rachelle Krzykowski and Malorie Cardarella. His greatest joy in life was doting on his step- granddaughters, and their mother Kimberly.

Jim had a passion for golf and cherished the time spent playing with his friends when he wasn't working at Rainbow. He went on several golf outings to Myrtle Beach SC, with his golf buddies. One of his best golf memories was attending a Masters practice round at August Ga with his mother Minnie, his brother Tom and his sister in-law Linda.

During the summers, James loved visiting the Saratoga racetrack and enjoyed betting on the "ponies."

He will be deeply missed by his entire family. He is survived by his brother, Thomas Petrigliano and Linda (Albright) Petrigliano, his sister, Kathy (Petrigliano) and Joseph Polach, his stepdaughter, Candance Barnaba, his step grandchildren Rachelle Krzykowski and Malorie Cardarella, and his nieces and nephews, Dean Longthon, Jennifer Petrigliano, Stacey Petrigliano, Darian Polach, and Joseph Polach Jr.

He is predeceased by his sister Ann Petrigliano Diaz, his stepdaughter, Kimberly Carter, and his nephew Patrick Longthon.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 25th, 2024 from 9:30-11:30 am, at St. Mary's Church, 80 Mansion St, Coxsackie, NY, followed immediately by a Funeral Mass celebrated by Reverend Joseph O'Brien.
