PATRICIA A. PALMER

LATHAM – Patricia A. (Van Alstine) Palmer, age 93, of Latham, NY (and in the last few years, Niskayuna and Cohoes, entered into eternal rest on July 18th, 2024.

Born in Cincinnati, OH and raised in Albany, Pat was the daughter of the late Harold and Anna VanAlstine. She was the beloved wife of 56 years of Alfred R. Palmer until his passing in 2008.

A Latham resident since 1957, Pat graduated from the Academy of the Holy Names, Albany in 1948 and St. Peter's Hospital School of Nursing in 1951. She worked as a dedicated registered nurse at Memorial Hospital in Albany for many years, retiring in 1993.

Pat always enjoyed family get-togethers and trips, including many summers at Lake Luzerne, as well as weekly bridge games with friends. In retirement, she and her husband became avid bird watchers, taking frequent bird watching trips throughout the U.S. and other countries. She was a long-time member of the Hudson Mohawk Bird Club.

Pat leaves behind her devoted daughter, Beverly and son-in-law William Walthers of Schenectady, loving son Gary Palmer and his wife Teresita of Pleasant Hill, CA, grandson William J. Walthers and granddaughter Jessica Walthers. Also survived by six great grandchildren, Alana, Hailey, Javon, Brooke, Ayden and Nora, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her late parents and husband, Pat was predeceased by her son Jeffrey in 1976.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the staffs of the Terrace at Glen Eddy, Eddy Village Green of Cohoes, and Community Hospice.

In accordance with Pat's wishes, a private funeral service will be held in Latham. The family thanks all of her current and past friends and relatives for their friendship over the years.
