Obituary of John C.W. Adamec
NISKAYUNA - John C.W. Adamec, 71, of Niskayuna, beloved husband of Cheryl Jones Adamec, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2024.
Born in Mineola, NY on January 25, 1953, he was the son of the late John B. and Gertrude H.F. (Wolf) Adamec. John was married to Cheryl on April 17, 1982 and the two shared a devoted union of 42 years prior to his passing.
John grew up in Closter, and Alpine, New Jersey and graduated from Tenafly High School. In high school, he was active in the marching and concert bands, and traveled as an exchange student to Hamburg, Germany. He received a B.A. in History from Trinity College in Hartford, CT.
After college, John resided in Plattsburgh, NY where he first met Cheryl. John was a Claims Representative with the Social Security Administration for over 31 years, first in Plattsburgh and then in Schenectady until he retired in 2008. He was active in several philatelic and deltiologic clubs. He enjoyed dancing, traveling, and flea markets. His greatest love was being with his family.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his loving children: John R. (Bethany) Adamec of Annandale, VA; and Matthew T. Adamec and partner Allyson Baker of Whitman, MA; his cherished grandchildren: Anna G. and John L. "Jack" Adamec; as well as his siblings: Gertrude (David) Hudson of Niskayuna and Carl Adamec of Schenectady; and, extended family.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Tuesday, July 9th, 2024 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at The Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham.
Funeral services will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 10th, 2024, 10:00 am, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1850 Union St, Schenectady.
Interment will immediately follow the service at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, Niskayuna.
