ROBERT T. ERTELT

LOUDONVILLE - Robert T. Ertelt, 71 of Loudonville, died June 14, 2024 after a long illness.

Bob was born on November 15, 1952, in Brooklyn, NY, the son of the late Charles and Genevieve (Young) Ertelt. He graduated from Shaker High School and attended SUNY Plattsburgh. Bob lived most of his life in the Capital District, where he ran a house painting business for many years.

Known to many as "Erty" or "Footy," Bob will be remembered by friends and family for his generosity, storytelling and acerbic wit. Bob was an avid music lover (his favorite singer was Muddy Waters), and he enjoyed playing his Telecaster guitar. Bob played guitar or bass for several local bands, including The Broadway Dogs; Blue, Speed and Thunder; and Yukon. He amassed an extensive collection of blues, soul, country, western swing, rockabilly and rock 'n' roll records.

Bob was also an accomplished cook and baker, renowned for his "world famous" chocolate chip cookies and homemade candies. He also enjoyed watching classic movies and reading pulp fiction.

He is survived by his partner, Mary Dugan, and her children: Madeline, Jack and Anna and grandchildren: Jane, Neil and Eamon; sisters: Catherine Ertelt and Jeanne Sickler; brothers: Paul (Elaine Smith), Richard (Kathy Parks) and Michael; aunt Agnes Becker; nieces and nephews: Erin Sickler, David Sickler, Meghan Sickler and Riley Parks Ertelt; and numerous cousins.

Bob's family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Albany Medical Center for their compassionate care.
