Obituary of Geraldine L. Pitts

GERALDINE L. PITTS

LATHAM - Geraldine L. Pitts, 72 of Latham, beloved wife of Richard A. Pitts, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Albany Medical Center.

Born on October 1, 1951 in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of the late James and Helen (Hipwood) McLean. "Gerrie", as she was affectionately known as to family and friends, was born and raised in Lansingburgh. She attended and graduated from Lansingburgh High School, class of 1969. Gerrie and Rick were married on June 19, 1971, cherishing 52 blessed years together. Upon moving to Latham in 1973 Gerrie began her career in Ophthalmology as a medical receptionist. Over the years she worked for several different offices to include Center for Sight in Albany, Northeast Eye, Brass Eye, and Image Care, all in Latham.

Gerrie was a true friend to everyone she met. It didn't matter which aspect of life it was, Gerrie had friends there whether it was at work, while traveling, or at camp. She and Rick enjoyed to travel and cruise, especially to Aruba. Gerrie enjoyed boating, swimming, reading, playing cards, and spending time with family and friends. Some of her most cherished times were at their family camp in Lake Pleasant at Northwoods Lodge. Her most treasured source of joy was without a doubt her family and friends. She will be deeply missed yet forever cherished in the hearts of those she loved. In the words of her favorite Disney character, Tinkerbell, "Laughter is timeless, imagination has no age, and dreams are forever."

In addition to her beloved husband, Rick, Gerrie is survived by her two loving children Jeffrey J. (Lisa) Pitts and Erin K. (Michael) Mariano, her grandchildren Braydon R., Philip X., Lucas J., Marek O., and London A., and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also survived by her devoted and dedicated best and lifelong friend of forty-six years Lorraine Puckey and her husband Hank.

In addition to her late parents, Gerrie is predeceased by her brother James B. McLean.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Sunday, May 19th, 2024 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at The Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. A Funeral Service will take place on Monday, May 20th, 2024 at the funeral home beginning at 9:30 AM. Interment to follow in the family plot of Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie.
