Obituary of Gail Ann Ruchel

GAIL ANN RUCHEL

ALBANY - Gail Ann Ruchel, 77, of Albany, NY, passed away on April 11, 2024 in her home.

Born on December 4, 1946 she was the daughter to the late Walter and Annabella (Rockenstire) Reed. In addition to her husband, Gail is survived by her brother Mark Reed, daughters Lynnea (Tom) Kopach, Heather (Michael) Luizzi, Lauri (Joseph) Wilson, and sons Christopher (Kimberly) and Jason Ruchel.

Gail retired from NYS Taxation and Finance in 2022. A position she was extremely proud of, and recognized for her excellence, work ethic and dedication.

Gail and George, the love of her life, enjoyed so many wonderful times together. Any and all time spent with her husband and family was cherished by her. She lovingly took on all roles of Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Aunt in a beautiful and loving way. Her infectious love will be missed whole heartedly.

In addition to her husband, brother, and children, Gail is survived by her nine adored grandchildren: Tom Kopach, Kristin (Bruce) Wemple, Michael Luizzi, Jr., Angela Luizzi, Colin Wilson, Brett Wilson, Ashley Wilson, Alyssa Ruchel, and Gavin Ruchel; two great-grandchildren: Russell Wemple and Saige Taylor; three generations of nieces and nephews whom she loved as her own.

In addition to her late parents, Gail is predeceased by her sister-in-law Karen Ruchel, brother and sister-in-law Edward and Joanne Ruchel, father and mother-in-law Edward and Stasia Ruchel, mother-in-law Dorothy Ruchel, niece Dawn Marie Ruchel, 

Gail’s wishes were to have a Celebration of Life memorial gathering which will take place at a later date to be announced.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of The Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home.
