Obituary of David Curtis Truax Sr.
DAVID CURTIS TRUAX SR., Ret. US Navy
ALBANY - David Curtis Truax Sr., 74 of Albany, beloved husband of nearly forty years to Jodene M. (Ciarfello) Truax, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024 with his loving family at his side.
Born and raised in Albany, he was the son of the late Orlo and Minna (Hasselbach) Truax. David and Jodene were married on July 25, 1985 in South Harpswell, ME. He served proudly and honorably in the United States Navy from 1970 to 1991.
David's greatest and most cherished joy in life was without a doubt his big, beautiful family. Dedicated father of sixteen children and loving Poppy of sixteen grandchildren, he had an instinctual bond with each and every one of them. He was all of their biggest fan and attended every game, practice, or school event. His love, which touched so many, was absolutely unconditional. Thoughtful and having an ability to make anyone feel special without saying a word, his capacity for kindness and compassion was unmatched. He will be greatly missed and eternally loved.
David's memory and legacy will be forever cherished by his family. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed rooting for and watching the Yankees, Jets, Giants, Nascar and Drag Racing. He also had a love for reading. David was a man who possessed a wealth of knowledge; that of which was often portrayed through his correctly answered Jeopardy questions. He loved playing games on his kindle for hours on end as well as late night snacks…especially ice cream and orange soda.
A proud Navy Veteran with over twenty years of distinguished service, David would often speak of his time while serving. Sitting in his chair at the table, sharing his stories and recounting his experiences such as his time at Navy Support Facility Diego Garcia as well as aboard the USS Roosevelt during the Gulf War was something he loved to do.
In addition to his parents, David is predeceased by his son Brian Truax and brother Donald Truax.
In addition to his wife Jodene, David is survived by his children Stephen (Amanda) Truax Sr., Jason (Sarah) Truax, Christina (Joseph) Molnar, David (Colleen) Truax Jr., Matthew aka "Moppy" Truax, Nicholas (Joni) Truax, Kristopher (Amanda) Truax, Cory Truax Sr., Carrie (David) D'Amico, Kaitlyn Truax (Brian), Brandon Truax, Brittany Truax (Jay), Ashley Truax (Salvatore), Lindsey Truax, and Tyler Truax. Also survived by grandchildren Stephen Jr., Stephanie, David III, Alyssa, Justin, Emma, Brian, Cory Jr., Cole, Jacob, Charlotte, Lilian, Kelly, Amelia, Josie, and Skyler as well as precious, fur-babies, Calvin, Bear, and Rosie.
