Obituary of Nora M. Esposito
NORA M. ESPOSITO
COHOES - We are deeply saddened to announce the peaceful passing of Nora M. Esposito, age 43, of Cohoes, NY, formerly of Rutherford, NJ, on December 10th, 2023 after over a decade of living with Huntington's Disease. Nora was at home with her husband Joseph by her side.
Nora grew up in Rutherford, NJ and later graduated cum laude from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in 2002. Her passion for children turned into a rewarding career as a nursery school teacher where she influenced many.
Nora and Joe met in High School and were married in 2005. They spent much of the next 18 years traveling both domestically and internationally. Besides traveling they enjoyed many restaurants, concerts, baseball games., soccer matches, and volunteering with their friends at both the Huntington's Disease Society of America (HDSA), and the Albany Society for the Advancement of Philanthropy (ASAP).
Nora also loved the YMCA where she spent nearly every week night when she was able exercising and dancing. She embraced these joys with determination and grace, despite the onset of Huntington's Disease (HD) — a journey she faced with the same courage shown by her father before her.
In addition to her husband, Joseph, Nora is survived by her loving mother Carol (Leitner) Marshall, in-laws Ed and Joan Esposito, sister-in-law Nicole (Christopher), niece and nephew Emma and Logan Spencer, as well as many additional loving family and friends.
In memory of Nora, donations may be made to the Capital District YMCA, a place of great happiness for her. Donations to the YMCA may be made by visiting cdymca.org/donate.
Nora made a posthumous donation to the Harvard Brain Tissue Research Center in order to continue efforts in the search for a cure to HD. Joseph is dedicated to continuing his advocacy work for caregivers and fundraising with both HDSA and Help4HD International both of which donations in memory of Nora are also encouraged
