Obituary of Mr. Devanathan R. Vembar

DEVANATHAN R. VEMBAR

Mr. Devanathan Vembar, 85, who resided in Latham, NY for over 45 years, passed away on November 21st, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, a son and a daughter in the United States, as well as extended family in India.

After completeing his Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Mysore University in India, he migrated to the United States in hopes of furthering his career. He studied Packaging Engineering at Rutgers University, New Jersey. He worked locally for Norton Coated Abrasives – Saint Gobain, as Divisional Manager of Packaging Engineering. He received many awards for his excellent design of packaging machinery.

His most cherished hobby was his Classical Carnatic Music. He was trained in Classical Carnatic Flute music under Mysore Sri. Deshikachar and Veena Vidvan Sri. Doreswamy Iyengar. He gave many flute performances locally. In addition, he was a member of the Hindu Temple Society, in Albany, where he taught Indian classical music at the Hindu Temple in years past.

People who knew him well, will describe him as pious, straight forward, and an honest man who put his family first.
