Steven G. Alix Obituary

STEVEN G. ALIX

COHOES - Steven G. Alix, 67 of Cohoes, beloved husband of Kimberly J. (Mackey) Alix, passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at Albany Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. During his battle with leukemia, his unwavering determination and will to fight were evident right to the very end.

Born in Troy, NY he was the son of Alvin and Norma (Atkinson) Alix. Steve attended Shaker High School. He married the love of his life, Kim, spending 44 cherished years together. He dedicated thirty-eight years to the North Colonie School District, ending his tenure as a Facilities Maintenance Mechanic. Steve was prior President and Lifetime Member of the Boght Community Fire District with twenty-five years of active service. Steve also served as a Charter Organization Representative with the Boy Scouts of America, Pack and Troop 277 for several years.

Steve loved camping and boating on Sacandaga Lake. He was an avid woodworker and builder; a master craftsman, jack of all trades and always willing to lend a helping hand. He could often be found sitting by the campfire among good company and enjoyed traveling with family and friends. Out of all of these things he found joy in however, his deepest love was the love he had for his family especially his children and being "Poppy" to his wonderful grandchildren. His loss is beyond measure and he will be greatly missed and forever cherished in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.

Survivors in addition to his wife Kim and parents Alvin and Norma include his children Steven (Cheryl) Alix and Lindsay (Kevin) Flores, sisters Lisa (Charles) Hall and Leslie Alix, as well as his dearest grandchildren Lauren, Ella, Alex, and Patrick to whom he was proud "Poppy". Also survived by extended family, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Steve's family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Courtney Bellomo and her wonderful staff at NYOH/Albany Medical Center, along with Dr. Soiffer and Dr. Garcia from Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
