Obituary of Lisa Maureen Burke
LISA MAUREEN BURKE
TROY – Lisa Maureen Burke, 43 of Troy, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 24th, 2023 at her home after a year-long, courageous battle with stomach cancer.
Born on November 5th, 1979 in Niskayuna, NY she was the beloved daughter of Walter and Susan (Stier) Burke.
Lisa graduated Shaker High School, Class of 1997 and went on to attend Smith College in Northampton, MA earning a bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts and thence onto Georgetown University earning a master’s degree in Sports Management.
Lisa began her professional career in the Executive Department at Stowe Resorts, Stowe, VT. She would go on to hold integral positions within the Grant Management Departments of several distinguished institutions and universities to include Tufts University, Boston, MA, Georgetown University, Washington DC, and most recently held the position of Assistant Financial Manager of Sponsored Funds at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs.
Lisa enjoyed skiing, swimming, gardening, music, photography, and reading. However, Lisa’s deepest source of joy came from spending quality time in the close company of her friends, especially those of Smith College, as well as her dear family who will forever cherish the love they shared with Lisa.
In addition to her parents, Walter and Susan, Lisa is survived by her brother Michael Christian (Rebecca) Burke, her life partner Charlie Meyer formerly of Albany, her uncles William S. (Catherine) Burke, David G. (Francine) Burke, Rev. Geoffrey D. Burke, John O. (Diane) Burke, her aunt Joan M. Stier, as well as several cousins.
Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, September 28th, 2023 from 9:00 to 11:00 am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet Shaker Rd., Latham. Funeral Mass to begin at 11:00 am immediately following the calling hours, with Rev. Geoffrey D. Burke, celebrant.
