DONALD B. COLEMAN


Donald B. Coleman of Troy, NY, transitioned on August 23, 2023 at the age of 61.


Affectionately known as Omar, son of the late Lydia Lorraine Bounds and Donald A. Coleman, he was born and raised in Albany, NY.


Omar is predeceased by his sisters Susan and Deborah and step father Jimmy Bounds. He is survived by his children Ayesha (James), Omar (Alycia), and Elijah (Dashonna), grandchildren Anisah, Ameena, Salma, Caesar, Natalia, and Jayla, his sisters Constance, Maryland, Yvonne, Tamiko, Jacqueline, his brothers Gregory and Kevin, a host of nieces and nephews and their children.


The story of the meaning Omar has in the lives of the people he associated with cannot be abridged.


Omar's brother-in-law, enduring friend, and bandmate Jeffrey Allen wrote from Virginia: "Omar to me [was] a dedicated family man; And if he was truly your friend, you know it because he treated his friend like royalty, and the intricate ways he would tell his stories...he was an artist with words. He painted pictures in your brain with words to the point where you could actually see the story clearly. A true MC [emcee], to the bone. I'm gonna miss my friend. I miss him now.".


Omar's funeral services were held on Friday, August 25th, 2023. Interment took place in the Muslim Cemetery of the Capital District. Arrangements entrusted to the care of ther Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Latham.
