Obituary of John Milton Haun
LATHAM - John Milton Haun of Latham, N.Y. passed away on August 18, 2023 at the age of 91. Beloved and cherished husband of 52 years to Judith Ann (nee Friedman) Haun, devoted father of their children John C. Haun (Latham) and Christopher (Denise) Haun (Tampa, FL) as well as Mary Michelle (John) Gester (Rochester, NY), Lisa Haun (Los Altos, CA), Eric (Carol) Haun (Windham, NH), Kara (John) Rehbaum (Buffalo, NY) and Alex Gillis (Los Altos, CA); dearest brother of Doris L. Haun (Lawrence, KS), and preceded in death by parents, John and Pauline (nee Strecker) Haun/Elizabeth (nee Dietz) Haun, his brother Richard M. Haun, and sisters Bernice Marie Haun (late Dale), Ruth Haun Berquist, and Elsie Haun Blackwood. John is also survived by 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
John was born in Galatia, Kansas on December 4, 1931. He was the second youngest of six children. After graduating from the University of Kansas in 1954 with a bachelor's degree in accounting, he was commissioned as an Ensign and served as Supply Corps Officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve. He was ordered into active duty in June 1954 and was deployed to the Naval Ordnance Division of Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, N.Y. He was released from active duty in June 1956 as a Lieutenant JG. He then was employed in the financial management field for Montgomery Ward & Co., Cluett, Peabody and Co., and the State of New York until his retirement in 2000.
Friends and family may pay their final respects on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2023 from 9 to 11 AM at the Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home located at 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY. Funeral services will follow immediately at 12 PM at Zion Lutheran Church at 153 Nott Terrace, Schenectady, NY. Interment will take place following the funeral service at Sts. Cyril and Method Cemetery located 611 Duanesburg Rd, Rotterdam.
John's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the caregivers at the Teresian House Center for the Elderly. The care and kindness they provided to John will always be appreciated and never forgotten.
