GERALD L. YARTER

Gerald L. Yarter, 81, passed away on July 27, 2023.

Born in Cohoes, NY on July 12, 1942, he was the son of the late Leonard and Genevieve (Rock) Yarter. Jerry was a 1960 graduate of La Salle Institute and later went on to attend Russell Sage College. He was employed by the Watervliet Arsenal for 33 years, retiring in 1994. Rising from Apprentice Machinist to Chief of Production and Planning, his greatest accomplishment was spearheading the production of the "Bunker Buster Bomb".

Jerry was a 54-year member of the Elks, where he enjoyed shooting darts and the many friendships he made.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne (Fafard) Yarter and his two children Debbie Darby and David (Laura) Yarter. Also survived by his grandchildren, Ryan and Katie Darby and Nicholas, Alex, and Benjamin Yarter as well as his sister, Lois (Charles) Girard, sisters-in-law, Lorraine Woodin and Monica Doukas and many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, July 31, 2023, from 4 to 7 PM at the Dufresne and Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Rd., Latham. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, 10:30 AM at Saint Ambrose Church, 347 Old Loudon Rd., Latham with Rev. Brian Kelly, celebrant. Interment to immediately follow the mass at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Waterford.
