Dear Jeanne and kids,
I was so sad to hear of Georges' death. I have fond memories of George. One of the most vivid and earliest was shortly after Mike and Ty were born. Jeanne, you, George and the kids came to visit us and I remember George telling me how important it was to touch the babies so they would know they were loved and this was so nice to hear coming from a man, I respected him forever. It was quite possibly the only thing that kept me hanging on for a long time during a very trying time in my life. This truely reflected this man as the great father and person that he was.
Jeanne, another memory was years later when I talked to George one night on Grandma Binghams' porch. He talked about his love for you, I think a love few people experience in a lifetime. He was SO in love with you, said that you made his life complete. I was envious of your family because you were so connected and close. Something that Tom and I never were able to achieve unfortunately.
I have a picture from my 1st wedding of our family, minus Justin, who was not born yet, and yu are all smiling into the camera, your lives ahead of you, anything possible.
Life is so short that we must hold on to the memories and know we will all be together in the end and all this will make sense someday. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you all now and that each day will bring the healing closer.
Love you all. Sheila

My deepest sympathies to the Goldsmith family. George was one of the first activists I met when I first came to PEF. He was a joy to work with, always pleasant and always had a kind word for everyone. He was truly a kind soul. He will be missed.
