Obituary of Elizabeth A. Herrington
ELIZABETH A. HERRINGTON
GUILDERLAND - Elizabeth A. Herrington, 66 of Guilderland, beloved wife of the late Jody B. Herrington, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023 at her residence.
Born in Syracuse on August 19, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Donald J. and Joan T. (Culhane) Glisson. She and Jody were married twelve and a half years prior to his passing in May of 2000. Inspired by her love for Jody, Liz organized the Jody-Bowl, an annual bowling fundraiser held for 19 years in support of the National Kidney Foundation.
Liz was a graduate of Bethlehem Central High School class of 1974. Choosing to pursue a career in the medical field, Liz briefly attended Memorial Hospital's school of nursing before taking a job at St. Peter's Hospital. Liz remained at St.Peter's for her entire career and retired in December 2022 after 45 years of service. She will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by those who knew her as a dedicated co- worker and loving and supportive friend.
When not hard at work, Liz loved spending time with family. "Aunt Liz" held a special place in her heart for her siblings, nephews and great nieces and nephews who she referred to as her babies. Liz always looked forward to family get togethers and that well-deserved annual summer vacation in Dewey Beach.
Anyone who knew Liz also knew how much she loved cats. One cat was never enough and with one on her lap and another close by, life was good. As a sister, an aunt, a cat mom, and a friend, she was good at every role simply because of her capacity to love.
Liz is survived by her siblings Daniel (Carolyn) Glisson, Mary Jo (Gerry) Tully, and William H. (Stephanie) Glisson, and also by six nephews, four great-nieces, and two great-nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Friday, June 9th, 2023 from 12:00 - 2:00 PM at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Sharing of memories will conclude the visitation.
Liz will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Jody at Memory Gardens in a private service.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to The National Kidney Foundation at www.kidney.org or to Kitten Angels - 233 Houseman St. Mayfield, NY 12117.
