Obituary of Charles D. Sidoti

CHARLES D. SIDOTI Latham- Charles (Carmelo) D. Sidoti, 81 of Latham, beloved husband for over 55 years to Jennie (Carbone) Sidoti, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on Friday, April 2. Born in Albany on May 6, 1928, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Josephine (Faranda) Sidoti. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the US Army. Charlie worked for 5 years with Robert E. Keasby as a custom furniture maker, and then worked for Mayfair Furniture. He then was employed for the Town of Colonie Water Dept. as its water filtration plant operator, a position he retired from after 20 years of service. Charlie loved the outdoors, was an avid fisherman as well as gardening. He loved to travel especially spending his summer vacations on Paradox Lake. Survivors in addition to his beloved wife include his loving son; Charles A. Sidoti of Latham as well as his caring sisters; Theresa Furnier, Rose Arnold, Concetta Sleasman and Angelina Dedrick. He was Uncle "Gomie" to many nieces and nephews. Charlie is predeceased by his brothers & sisters; Nina Sidoti, Pauline Crisafulli, Carmella DiLello, Mary Archambeault, Frank, Tom & Bosti Sidoti. The family wishes to thank the staff of Rensselaer County Hospice for their care and compassion. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday from 4-7 P.M. at Dufresne & Cavanaugh Funeral Home, Ltd., 149 Old Loudon Road, Latham, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 am at Our Lady of The Assumption Church, 498 Watervliet-Shaker Road, Latham. Fr. Geoffrey Burke will officiate. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Charlie's name for Mesothelioma Research to the American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Rd., Loudonville NY 12211 Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Glenmont.
