MARGARET JEANNE SELKIS

LOUDONVILLE – Margaret Jeanne Selkis, 92 of Loudonville, beloved wife of the late John "Jack" Selkis Jr., entered into eternal rest on Sunday, March 19th, 2023 at her residence with her loving family at her side.

Born on February 1st, 1931 in Youngstown, OH she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Isabelle (Noble) Powers. Jeanne graduated from Georgetown University earning her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing. It is also here where she met the love of her life, Jack. They were married in 1953 and Jeanne began her lifelong and cherished role as homemaker, caring for and raising her family.

Jeanne was a devout Catholic and dedicated parishioner of St. Pius X Church. She will be fondly remembered for her warm sense of humor and amazing ability to capture the attention of her audience while telling a story. Jeanne was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed playing bridge as well as participating in water aerobics, going to the gym, reading, and cooking. She was a longtime member of Wolfert's Roost Country Club. She enjoyed annual trips to Florida with her family. They were indeed her truest source of joy. She loved them deeply and they will forever be grateful for the time they had with her and the care, love, and encouragement she provided with them throughout their lives.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Jack, Jeanne is predeceased by her infant son Michael Selkis, as well as sisters Dorothy McShea and Katherine Mergner.

She is survived by her five children: Mary Ann (Bill) Carberry, Kathy (Gary) Shanks, John (Jennifer) Selkis III, Thomas (Carol Ann) Selkis, and Robert (Grace) Selkis and seven grandchildren: Daniel (Suzy) Culliton, Ryan (Caitlin) Selkis, Meghan (Jim) Foody, Elizabeth (fiancé Edward) Selkis, John Selkis IV, Jenna Selkis, and Jacklyn Selkis. Also survived by her brother Joseph "Sonny" (Pat) Powers and eight great-grandchildren.

Jeanne's family would like to acknowledge the kindness and care shown to their mom by the doctors and nurses of both St. Peter's Hospital as well as Community Hospice. A special thank you to all of Jeanne's caregivers over the years especially Ciara, Donna, Stephanie, and Toni. Your compassion will always be remembered and cherished.
